Golf grips – the key to more control & feel

The grip is your only connection to the racket – it influences control, precision, and comfort . A suitable grip improves your game, while a worn one reduces consistency and confidence.

Why are the right golf grips so important?

  • Better control & consistency – stable hand position, reproducible swings.
  • More feeling & comfort – relieves hands and joints.
  • Grip in all weather conditions – materials for dry & wet conditions.
  • Fewer misgrips – fresh grips prevent hand slippage.

💡 Tip: In our golf shop in Münster you will find a large selection of golf grips – for new and used clubs, including professional grip replacement.

Grip thickness & size selection – how to find your grip

The correct grip size affects striking control and feel. Hand circumference (measured across the palm at knuckle level) and hand length (wrist to tip of the middle finger) provide guidance.

Hand circumference (approx.) Hand length (approx.) Recommended grip size Suitable for
< 17.5 cm < 17 cm Undersize / Junior Small hands, junior players
17.5 – 19.0 cm 17 – 19 cm standard Most players
19.0 – 20.5 cm 19 – 20.5 cm Midsize Larger hands, more stability
> 20.5 cm > 20.5 cm Jumbo / Oversize Maximum damping, less hand rotation

Note: These figures are guidelines only. Grip choice also depends on swing style, grip pressure, and personal feel. We're happy to advise you in person.

FAQ about golf grips

How do I know that I need a different grip size?
If the ball frequently veers left/right, you have to squeeze very hard, or the grip "sways" in your hand, measuring your hand circumference and length can help with diagnosis.
Are cord handles only suitable for rain?
No. Cord generally offers more grip – ideal for sweaty hands or for players who prefer maximum grip.
How long does it take to change the handle?
Usually a short time – a few minutes per racket. For complete sets, we allow a little more time.
Can I mix different grip sizes in the set?
Yes, perhaps a thicker grip on the putter or a slight variation for comfort. For irons/woods, we generally recommend consistency across the set.
How do I properly care for my handles?
Clean regularly with lukewarm water and a little soap, then allow to dry thoroughly. Avoid harsh cleaners.
