How do I ship a golf club safely? – Packing, padding, shipping
With the right packaging, your golf club will arrive safely: protect the head, stabilize the shaft, fill any empty spaces, and seal the box securely. Here you'll find practical step-by-step instructions – plus a checklist and tips for individual clubs and sets.
Purchase: Request an individual offer. Optional: Book a fitting/condition check.
Materials list
- Sturdy shipping box (preferably a perfect fit; a shipping tube is also possible for individual clubs)
- Bubble wrap/foam wrap, packing paper, soft cloths
- Adhesive tape (width ≥ 48 mm), optional edge protection
- Stretch film or cable ties for bundling in sets
- Optional: Headcover, stock protector (tube/rail)
Pack each club securely (driver, wood, hybrid, irons, wedge, putter)
- Protect your head: Put on a headcover; additionally wrap your head in 2-3 layers of bubble wrap (especially with woods).
- Pad the shaft: Wrap the foil in a spiral pattern from the hosel to the handle; overlap the transitions.
- Secure the handle: Pad the end of the handle extra so that it doesn't puncture the cardboard box.
- Secure: Use packing tape or stretch film to prevent anything from slipping.
- Fill the cardboard box: Pad the bottom with paper/air cushions; place the club in the center; fill any gaps around it.
- Seal and reinforce: Secure all edges with tape (“H” closure); add “Do not fold” as a warning on the outside.
Tip for adjustable woods: If possible, remove the head, pad it separately and place it next to the shaft; pack the adapter/screw securely.
Send multiple rackets/set
- Secure in 2-3 bundles: e.g., longwoods, hybrids/irons, wedges/putters separately; pad clubheads against each other at the same height.
- Bag shipping: Pad the clubs in the bag with cloths, protect the heads together; additionally pack the bag in a cardboard box.
- Distribute the weight evenly: Fill any gaps so that nothing "works through".

Common mistakes – and how to avoid them
- Cardboard that is too large causes movement → always fill any gaps.
- Pad only the head: always protect the shaft and handle as well.
- Unsecured points/edges: Use edge protection or extra padding.
- No photo evidence: take 2-3 pictures of the inside and the sealed box.
